    Contact Us Automation Automation Automation Previous slide Next slide Back to Steam Injection Integration Overview A Central Coast oil producer wanted to integrate an innovative and complex set of data from their steam injection process into an existing ArchestrA System Platform HMI System at their plant and selected Cannon to provide the PLC programming Wonderware Development and Systems Integration The PLC programming and HMI development was accomplished using Add On Instructions and ArchestrA objects which allowed the client flexibility to make changes on the fly as they bring new wells online that will be reusable in future steam injection projects This system replaced a more expensive system traditionally used for this process Having proven its worth the company plans to expand this system to other facilities they operate The scope of work included design network topology to provide communication infrastructure between Rosemount Wireless Gateway PLC and HMI networks as well as coordination with the company s SCADA group to program and develop repeatable routines for use in RSLogix 5000 programming that will provide flow calculations data archiving and alarming for the steam injection wells In addition Cannon programmed and developed a set of ArchestrA System Platform objects in order to provide Operator access to steam injection data Cannon worked with operations personnel to design HMI screens that allowed for easy access to all necessary data and configuration of injection sites and provided system integration services of PLC routines and ArchestrA objects into the Company s SCADA system Back to Service Information Location Central Coast California Service Automation Contact Cannon Home About Careers Loose Cannons Cannon Login Client FTP Search for Cannon is a registered Trade Mark of Cannon Pursuit of the Elegant Solution Reliable Responsive Solutions and Tree of Sustainability are service marks of Cannon 2016 MENU Home Markets Energy

    delivered fuel gas pressure would interfere with Crockett s ability to produce and sell electric power to PG E to meet its revenue plan Crockett s management decided to install a fuel gas compressor to ensure that they had the required high fuel gas pressure to meet all of the load demands on the plane Crockett called upon Cannon to assist support design and integrate the new fuel gas compressor into the cogeneration plant Cannon took this project from the early conceptual design provided permitting structural engineering electrical engineering mechanical engineering and finally integrated the controls and safety aspects of the compressor into the Plant s Foxboro DCS system Cannon assisted in providing the specifications and locating the compressor designed the foundation for the compressor skid and designed the entire electrical infrastructure to deliver 4160 volt power to the soft start motor controller for the 1250 hp prime mover of the compressor Additionally Cannon designed the sound retarding compressor enclosure it s lower explosion limit detecting system and ventilation systems The plant was mature and all of the free space had been used up for other systems Cannon had to redesign existing piping systems to accommodate the moving of the compressor skid into place The compressor had to be disassembled and moved in piece by piece Cannon designed the moveable crane rails rerouted existing pipelines and routed the new gas line to accomplish the installation Electrical Designed medium voltage infrastructure in a very electrically congested power plant to serve power to the compressor s motor soft starter Designed classified area power distribution lighting and ventilation systems Automation Designed Modbus multi drop network to capture data from added units Designed data formats with Invensys engineer to interface the compressor and related systems into the Foxboro DCS system Designed and installed interfaces

    Ethernet TCP IP communications system for its oil producing system The existing field was comprised of several subsystems from various vendors Cannon provided instrumentation and electrical engineering SCADA design and installation and programming to create two SCADA control room work stations each with four 4 screens to monitor and control the complex operations as they were brought on line In addition Cannon selected software and hardware upgrades for the server tower and developed and implemented a master process of over 10 000 tags a communication system consisting of fiber network wireless Ethernet infrastructure Motorola Canopy and RF radios multiple stainless steel communication panels and designed constructed and installed remote I O panels for the oil system and the water system Many areas of the oil field and facilities are considered Class 1 Division 1 or Division 2 therefore Cannon was responsible for providing the design and installation of the aforementioned components of the system in accordance with the NEC with respect to hazardous locations The master process tag list became the under pinning of the company s data history and statistical process control efforts at a remote location in Los Angeles Cannon continues to upgrade this system to handle the Phase 2 Diatomite which is completing construction with successful portions already on line Cannon provides on going service and maintenance for the entire Orcutt Diatomite Project including installing and calibrating multiple instruments integrating new process equipment into the SCADA system and troubleshooting and repairing the SCADA system Cannon provides this service to the Client as an on call service responding to calls during the days evenings and on weekends Back to Service Information Location Orcutt California Client Pacific Coast Energy Company Formerly part of the BreitBurn Energy Partnership Service Automation Contact Cannon Home About Careers Loose Cannons Cannon Login Client
