    of McFarland touted as the heartbeat of agriculture is nestled in the southern San Joaquin Valley of Kern County Graced with almost year round days of warm sunlight the City thrives on an enterprise of cotton sugar beets potatoes and roses A citrus processing plant almond hulling facility and vineyards also stimulate the area s economy Amidst this abundant agrarian culture the City operates a wastewater collection treatment and disposal facility for their residents and small industry As the on call Municipal Waste Water Engineer for McFarland Cannon has been involved in several projects surrounding the WWTP Recently the City chose to convert 160 acres of land previously utilized for vineyards into feed and fodder farming The decision stemmed from a need to comply with regulations that disallowed the use of secondary non disinfected effluent on vineyards Cannon provided professional services in four progressive phases vineyard removal RFP development and coordination pump station and irrigation pipeline design bidding services and construction services One of Cannon s most prominent achievements for the McFarland project was the completion of the WWTP s 20 year master plan The document presented plans which altered the existing aerated lagoon system into an extended aeration activated sludge plant with biological nutrient removal The plan estimated approximately 10 million in project costs which The City requested phased over a 7 year program starting with construction of the headworks and the aeration basin for the activated sludge plant The headworks facility design will include an influent parshall flume mechanical bar screen and a lift pump station for establishing hydraulics through the plant Back to Service Information Location McFarland California Market Wastewater Service Construction Management Contact Cannon Home About Careers Loose Cannons Cannon Login Client FTP Search for Cannon is a registered Trade Mark of Cannon Pursuit of the

    Stabilization Overview As part of a 2 3 million effort the City is taking emergency actions to stabilize eroding bluffs in Shell Beach and prevent future bluff failure The stabilization efforts will effectively protect a sewage pumping station failure of which would cause approximately 500 to 600 homes to be without sewage services The stabilization effort target two locations the sewer pumping station and public access stairway at Vista del Mar Avenue and Ocean Boulevard and a section of Ocean Boulevard between Wawona and Capistrano avenues To enhance aesthetic appeal and maintain visual continuity the new seawall was sculpted and stained to fit in with the natural bluffs anchored into bedrock at the base of the bluff and no boulders or other material were placed on the beach The project was funded through a variety of sources money from maintenance projects the City has deferred general fund reserves and Federal and State funds including 865 000 from the State Department of Boating and Waterways Back to Service Information Location Pismo Beach California Service Construction Management Contact Cannon Home About Careers Loose Cannons Cannon Login Client FTP Search for Cannon is a registered Trade Mark of Cannon Pursuit of the Elegant

  • CannonCorp Engineering Consultants | Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade
    Board RWQCB The City received funding from Proposition 50 as well as through an Integrated Regional Water Management Planning Grant IRWMP Because of the funding sources the project was on a compressed schedule and very tight budget The project included new headworks improving and replacing key machinery a grit removal system which consisted of a new grit classifier and associated piping and controls conversion of the AIPS pond to a Biolac System construction of two new integral clarifiers and a new blower aeration system and new sludge handling facilities The sludge handling facilities included the installation of a dewatering sludge screw press and new waste activated sludge WAS pumps Because minimal shut downs of short durations of the plant were allowed during construction a systematic a meticulous planning and management process was required to accommodate continual operation of the existing facilities during construction As a result of this upgrade the plant is now in compliance with criteria of Title 22 water re use and recycling as well as the RWQCB discharge standards In addition the plant is better suited for future upgrades Back to Service Information Location Guadalupe California Market Wastewater Service Construction Management Contact Cannon Home About Careers Loose
