    has resulted in frequent flooding poor pavement and inadequate facilities for bicycles and pedestrian traffic To improve the situation The City of Paso Robles in partnership with the Central Coast Low Impact Development LID Initiative and SvR Design Company SvR developed a conceptual design for a green complete street and stormwater enhancement project along 21st Street between Vine Street and Riverside Avenue Cannon was selected to complete the design and implementation of the project Goals for the project are to reduce the frequency and severity of street flooding increase groundwater recharge improve the quality of stormwater runoff reaching the Salinas River sediment removal reduction of traffic speeds with traffic calming devices shade the street with trees re map the 100 year corridor promote infill and redevelopment and provide Class II bike lanes This project is the first of its kind in San Luis Obispo County Implementation of the green street stormwater management and complete street traffic calming goals are critical Street improvements include stormwater bio retention areas daylighted creek channel storm drain pipes culverts energy dissipation feature replacement of an aging sewer line waterline reconstruction traffic calming for pedestrian and bicycle safety improvements coordination and installation of a new pedestrian crossing within the railroad right of way intersection bulb outs for reduced pedestrian crossing widths flashing LED crosswalks street furnishings ornamental street lighting repaving with conventional and pervious pavement paver systems engineered soil mixes and open channel plantings and street trees Cannon s scope of work included preliminary and final design railroad right of way coordination subconsultant coordination preparation of plans specifications and construction estimate and presentation of exhibits for public outreach Cannon also collaborated with the City Arborist and Geotechnical Engineer in completing the final design for this green complete street project Back to Service Information Location Paso Robles

    Forensic Engineering Back to City of Fresno v Shell Oil Overview The City of Fresno filed a lawsuit against Shell Oil Company The basis of the lawsuit was that Shell Oil Company was responsible for failed water laterals in the City of Fresno The City claimed that the polybutylene PB resin pellets manufactured by Shell Oil Company used in the formation of water laterals were the cause for water lateral failures Shell Oil Company hired Cannon to investigate and determine the cause for the failing water lines and later provide expert testimony for the defense team The investigation included review of the AWWA ASTM and City of Fresno standards for installation of water laterals as well as research into the mechanical chemical and soil composition The research also included review of the City of Fresno tract maps improvement plans GIS data pressure system analysis and site specific conditions To obtain hard evidence relating to the failure Cannon set up a series of excavations exposing both failed and non leaking water laterals The Cannon survey team documented every layer and characteristic of material while geologists took soil samples and compaction tests at critical intervals throughout each dig In addition the excavation was photo and video documented for reference purposes As a result of the investigation and evidence obtained the defense team proved that the lines failed as a result of improper installation kinks in the water lateral backfill of rocks and or sharp objects incorrect bending radii and failed surface conditions Back to Service Information Location Fresno California Service Forensic Engineering Contact Cannon Home About Careers Loose Cannons Cannon Login Client FTP Search for Cannon is a registered Trade Mark of Cannon Pursuit of the Elegant Solution Reliable Responsive Solutions and Tree of Sustainability are service marks of Cannon 2016 MENU
