    Cannon partnered with Ravatt Albrecht Associates to provide complete engineering and architectural through construction for UCSB s two story 216 room Anacapa Residence Hall Originally built in 1954 Anacapa Hall was one of the three original residence halls on the UCSB campus What started out as an effort to upgrade the existing fire alarm and sprinkler systems was expanded to include the upgrades of additional systems and elements to achieve a LEED certification In the summer of 2013 crews stripped down the walls knocked out the windows and gutted the ceiling of the 60 year old building Improvements that contributed the facility s greening included the installation of more efficient lighting insulated windows sustainably made furniture low flow bathroom fixtures upgraded heating and cooling systems and low voltage data communications and cable wiring throughout the building The project was completed in the fall of 2013 in time for the return of UCSB s students with a total cost of close to 5 million In the spring of 2014 Anacapa Hall achieved its LEED Gold for Commercial Interiors certification Cannon provided structural and civil engineering services Structural engineering services included evaluation of notching coring of existing framing members evaluation of existing structural systems capacity framing modifications fire system seismic bracing connections engineering to replace air handling units specifications bidding assistance construction administration and as builts Civil engineering services included review of as built plans determination of fire water service point of connection and routing design of the restrained 4 fire water line backflow prevention site repairs specifications bidding assistance construction administration and as builts Back to Service Information Location University of California Santa Barbara California Market Higher Education Service Structures Contact Cannon Home About Careers Loose Cannons Cannon Login Client FTP Search for Cannon is a registered Trade Mark of Cannon

    Pier Stabilization Overview Constructed in the late 19th Century the Harford Pier comprises a core part of the Port of San Luis facilities and provides significant historical and economic value The original buildings established atop the pier were destroyed by fire in 1915 and rebuilt into the pier s current structures in 1919 Since then the structures have undergone numerous emergency repairs over time with portions of the pier taken down in response to long term wood decay and other wear and tear issues Cannon was selected to develop an action plan in response to the Port s need for the Harford Pier s preservation repair and maintenance The action plan included a review of the existing studies site visits to document current conditions development of schematic repair scenarios cost estimates for construction repairs and prioritization of the recommended repairs For phase one of the Harford Pier project Cannon stabilized the warehouse roof structure This involved inspecting piles and pier caps to determine the expected scale of required work installation of new piles and pier caps new treated columns a new beam stabilization of the west columns to roof truss connections and a new shear wall In phase two Cannon made repairs to the pier south of the warehouse roof and to another area in the south east section Numerous piles were installed and approximately 50 of the pier caps were replaced along with the majority of the joists and decking Currently Cannon has proposed work for a third phase which involves repairs to the pier area in breezeway between the Harbor Patrol offices and seafood market Back to Service Information Location Avila Beach California Service Structures Contact Cannon Home About Careers Loose Cannons Cannon Login Client FTP Search for Cannon is a registered Trade Mark of Cannon Pursuit of

    at Avila Pier Overview Cannon was selected to provide structural analysis services for a commercial stunt planned at the Avila Pier The stunt involved an SUV traveling the length of the pier at 40 miles per hour and coming to a skidding stop at the end of the pier Analysis was based on the vehicle s weight and model as well as pier drawings and variables such as rate of speed The scope of work for the project included analysis of the pier and a development plan for temporary upgrades as necessary to ensure the stunt would not damage the pier Specifically Cannon tested the attachment of the planks to the purlins purlins to piercaps and pile bending capacities to ensure that enough planks purlins and piles were engaged to resist the vehicle s stopping force Cannon also provided a plan and details as necessary to facilitate the temporary upgrades to the pier The Bridgestone Tire commercial featuring the stunt aired on Super Bowl Sunday in 2010 Back to Service Information Location Avila Beach California Service Structures Contact Cannon Home About Careers Loose Cannons Cannon Login Client FTP Search for Cannon is a registered Trade Mark of Cannon Pursuit of

    who have embraced the concept of revamping Isla Vista s image into one which promotes community conservancy and scholarship To accomplish this goal St George retained Cannon for the conception of a new housing complex at 880 Camino del Sur These three story student apartment buildings in Isla Vista consisting of 56 new one two and three bedroom units were designed with the objective of promoting a cleaner more proactive and aesthetically appealing living environment Students are encouraged to give back to the Isla Vista community uphold the condition of their housing facilities and perform well academically by receiving a 20 discount on their lease for maintaining a 3 0 gpa and participating in community service programs The complex comprises five buildings surrounding a central courtyard totaling approximately 52 500 square feet Cannon was selected to provide structural design services for the development of the residential units and open common space All first floor units were designed to be ADA accessible and a shading feature was implemented over half of the buildings exteriors This exterior shading feature is supported by braced structural steel and wood framing Additionally Cannon provided conceptual designs permit packages construction documents and construction management services Specific design services included Roof Flat plywood over I joists and beams with parapets The building plans are varied and roughly rectangular Walls Conventional wood framed construction Foundation Concrete continuous wall footing isolated column spread footings and slab on grade Lateral Resistance to lateral seismic and wind forces is provided by wood sheathed shear walls Campus 880 is a Green housing project incorporating conservation features such as LED lighting low flow toilets and the potential for solar panel installations on all roof tops Back to Service Information Location Isla Vista California Service Structures Contact Cannon Home About Careers Loose Cannons Cannon

    of McFarland touted as the heartbeat of agriculture is nestled in the southern San Joaquin Valley of Kern County Graced with almost year round days of warm sunlight the City thrives on an enterprise of cotton sugar beets potatoes and roses A citrus processing plant almond hulling facility and vineyards also stimulate the area s economy Amidst this abundant agrarian culture the City operates a wastewater collection treatment and disposal facility for their residents and small industry As the on call Municipal Waste Water Engineer for McFarland Cannon has been involved in several projects surrounding the WWTP Recently the City chose to convert 160 acres of land previously utilized for vineyards into feed and fodder farming The decision stemmed from a need to comply with regulations that disallowed the use of secondary non disinfected effluent on vineyards Cannon provided professional services in four progressive phases vineyard removal RFP development and coordination pump station and irrigation pipeline design bidding services and construction services One of Cannon s most prominent achievements for the McFarland project was the completion of the WWTP s 20 year master plan The document presented plans which altered the existing aerated lagoon system into an extended aeration activated sludge plant with biological nutrient removal The plan estimated approximately 10 million in project costs which The City requested phased over a 7 year program starting with construction of the headworks and the aeration basin for the activated sludge plant The headworks facility design will include an influent parshall flume mechanical bar screen and a lift pump station for establishing hydraulics through the plant Back to Service Information Location McFarland California Market Wastewater Service Construction Management Contact Cannon Home About Careers Loose Cannons Cannon Login Client FTP Search for Cannon is a registered Trade Mark of Cannon Pursuit of the
