  • Comcast Testing Gigabit Cable Internet in Philadelphia
to address the needs of their customers who are demanding for better services all the time We took the next important step forward in delivering Gigabit speed broadband over our hybrid fiber coaxial network he wrote The test used the standard cable connections that we have in homes across the country All we needed was a new modem a software upgrade to the device that serves that neighborhood and a few good engineers In a press statement Comcast said this is the first home equipped with DOCSIS 3 1 Data over Cable Service Interface Specification on a customer facing network working through the company s existing networks There are no new connections or wiring in the home needed for installation of the service The beauty of DOCSIS 3 1 is that it is backwards compatible so no digging up streets or backyards Werner said Gigabit Internet speeds are not a new thing to Comcast and the market The announcement takes Comcast into serious competition with other established providers like Google Fiber which offers very high Internet speeds in selected areas but customers have to make new installations That could be one of the advantages for Comcast over its competitors The company will continue to test the new Gigabit cable Internet connections in the coming months Share this Facebook Google Tumblr Twitter More Print Email Tweet Be the first to comment What do you think Posted by admin January 23 2016 at 4 22 pm Categories Cable Internet Comcast DOCSIS Gigabit Internet Providers Tags Comcast DOCSIS 3 1 Gigabit Cable Internet Philadelphia Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published Required fields are marked Comment Name Email Website Notify me of follow up comments by email Notify me of new posts by email ISP 1 Internet Access
