  • 6 Tips for Interviewing with a Reporter - El Blog - Snackbox
up on media training can be a smart move During media training we typically spend a few hours sharing guidelines and doing mock interviews and from those sessions I ve identified my top six tips for interviewing with a reporter Tip 1 Come prepared Know the reporter s background Spend some time getting familiar with what they ve been covering recently and how your interview will help them as they prepare to write your story Have an idea of the questions you ll be asked It s entirely okay to ask if the reporter is willing to share questions in advance of the interview If they aren t then build a list of anticipated questions along with how you would answer Speaking of answers prepare a list of three to five key messages which you ll use as often as possible throughout the interview Think of key messages as sentence long sound bites that help tell the larger story Tip 2 Arrive early Whether the interview is in person or over the phone set aside an extra 15 minutes or so to allow time to gather your thoughts If you re headed to a live TV interview double that extra time to 30 minutes or more depending on the producer s ask Tip 3 Be concise Mention your key messages as often as possible throughout the interview Answer in a sentence or two where possible and then pause Allow the reporter to catch up on notes gather their thoughts etc Don t feel the need to fill silence Tip 4 Never say no comment There is no other phrase on the planet that sounds more incriminating as no comment If you don t know the answer say so Offer to get back to the reporter with the facts they seek

nation This campaign promoted the launch of Smoothie King s new Chobani filled smoothie while staying in line with Smoothie King s mission to promote an active and healthy lifestyle Team Snackbox sat down with one of their Senior Account Executives Susanna Kalnes to discuss the method behind the blender bike tour that resulted in massive coverage for Smoothie King Q What was the big idea behind the Blender Bike Challenge A Smoothie King was getting ready to launch their new Greek yogurt smoothie powered by Chobani Although this is newsworthy we realized there was an even better way to get attention for both brands while promoting Smoothie King s active lifestyle Chobani provided stationary bikes called blender bikes that allowed guests to simply pedal in order to blend a smoothie It was an awesome visual way to promote the Greek yogurt smoothies while gaining plenty of media attention Imagine a journalist reporting live f rom Smoothie King on a blender bike blending a smoothie Q What smoothies were blended and how did it work A Smoothie King chose eight pretty huge markets and selected Smoothie King stores that had been upgraded to Smoothie King s new look Each store set up blender bikes either inside or outside of the store and let guests participate in blending their own free smoothie The smoothies that were blended were the Greek yogurt strawberry and blueberry smoothies Q How far ahead did Snackbox pitch in order to obtain a good amount of coverage A We pitched all of our markets a media alert coupled with a pitch four to six weeks in advance of each challenge that took place As the event got closer and closer we focused on follow up emails that asked if the media was interested in attending or covering

  • Snackbox Invents Celebrity Pancake Portraits  - El Blog - Snackbox
in neighborhood grocery aisles But what does it take to build a campaign that will ensure your client gets a generous amount of positive publicity Team Snackbox knew the only way to generate even bigger media coverage around a previously successful product was to follow the Snackbox motto to think outside the box Follow along as we dig deeper through an interview with Susanna Kalnes senior account executive at Snackbox and brains behind the Celebrity Pancake Portrait campaign Q What were some challenges Batter Blaster was facing that called for a creative campaign like pancake portraits A Their challenge was that their competition was the general pancake mix from a box There was a sales disconnection because Batter Blaster was sold in the refrigerated section of grocery stores a place most people wanting to buy pancake mix wouldn t go Since it wasn t seen next to it s competitors people didn t know it was there Q How did you come up with the celebrity pancake portrait idea A It stemmed from sitting down and figuring out who Batter Blaster s target audience was Once I established the target audience was parents I had to think of an angle that was more interesting than just getting involved with your child in the kitchen Snackbox asked Batter Blaster if they were open to outside of the box ideas and they were That s where I pulled in my artistic sister who had the time and availability to work on a project like this and asked her to make celebrity faces out of Batter Blaster s pancake mix The goal was to get the portraits to look so similar to the celebrity that they demanded national media coverage After a few trial runs the portraits were spot on and we knew

  • Branding Yourself on Social Media - El Blog - Snackbox
and anything else that comes up from a Google search in order to get a good gauge of character It s harder to get to know you from a sheet of paper than it is from your Facebook page and they know that With that being said here are a few of the many ways to present yourself and your brand in a way that is professional but still showcases your personality because you still want your peers to think you re cool Don t swear We all know this can be a challenge and we ve all done it at least one time A curse word every now and then doesn t hurt as much as you dropping the f bomb in every status you post If your future boss scrolls through your profile and all they see is how dirty of a mouth you have it ll put a bad taste in theirs So keep the swearing down to a very minimum Monitor the pictures your friends tag of you We can t always control what our friends post on their own pages so you have to make sure they don t tag you in anything embarrassing or inappropriate that will show up on yours It is very easy to un tag yourself in a picture if you don t like it Types of these pictures may include you out the night before taking shots or the picture that was taken at the very end of the night that you don t remember A good rule of thumb If you don t remember it don t post it Also do not post photos that are incriminating and could get you or anyone else in trouble This seems obvious but we all have that one friend Post meaningful content
